Elysia Teruya is a Biology graduate from the University of San Francisco with a minor in Neuroscience. Her work centers on neurodegenerative disease research and improving care for diverse communities in Hawai‘i and California. She founded the Manu o Lōkahi Stroke Foundation to support stroke survivors and their families through education and outreach. Elysia has contributed to clinical research at UCSF and has hands-on experience working with patients and families in hospital and caregiving settings. She plans to pursue medicine with a focus on neurology and health equity.
