Biography

Dr. Galina Nikolskaya is a double board-certified neurologist, certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Medical Specialties in Clinical Neurophysiology. She maintains an active clinical practice in San Diego, focusing on brain injury and migraine management and performing neurodiagnostics. She has over a decade of hands-on experience managing patients with neurological issues, including those with TBI in acute and outpatient settings, which allowed her to hone her expertise at identification, diagnosis, and management of TBI.
Dr. Nikolskaya completed her Neurology residency at UC San Diego (UCSD) and a Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she mastered advanced electrodiagnostic techniques—EEG (Electroencephalography), Evoked Potentials, EMG (Electromyography), and NCS (Nerve Conduction Studies)—becoming a specialist in using these tools to diagnose and monitor brain injury severity, seizures, and neuromuscular disorders. Later, she broadened her skills with additional diagnostics, including VNG (Videonystagmography) and

Posturography, enhancing her ability to assess TBI-related oculomotor and balance issues. This robust foundation allows her to serve her patients effectively.
She is passionate about education and sharing her deep knowledge of neurology. She served as a neurologist at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, mentoring medical students and residents. She now holds a role as a Clinical Instructor at UCSD’s Free Neurology Clinic, where she treats patients while training the next generation of doctors in neurological care.
Dr. Nikolskaya has co-authored papers on headache and civilian TBI and blast-related TBI. She is finalizing a book, BRAIN INJURY: A Multidisciplinary & Illustrated Guide, featuring contributions from multiple other clinical experts in various clinical fields including neuro-optometry, PMR, neuropsychiatry, audiology, and radiology. The book is set for release by publisher at the end of 2025.
