Biography

Dr. Philip Hulbig is a distinguished educator, researcher, and author specializing in metacognition, self-regulatory interventions, and neurodiversity in education. With over two decades of experience working with neurologically diverse populations, Dr. Hulbig has pioneered innovative approaches for supporting students in understanding their neurological profiles and developing personalized metacognitive strategies for academic success.At Curry College's Program for the Advancement of Learning (PAL), Dr. Hulbig teaches courses that facilitate academic achievement through metacognitive problem-solving, helping students identify their neuropsychological strengths and challenges to develop effective self-regulatory interventions. His work bridges neuroscience, education, and psychology, emphasizing how neurological understanding can transform learning experiences for diverse learners.Dr. Hulbig is the author of "The Pedagogy of Self-Authorship: The Neurocognitive Impact of Science and Metacognition" (Springer Nature, 2023) and has published numerous papers on metacognition, educational neuroscience, and pedagogical approaches for neurodivergent learners. His recent research focuses on unifying educational approaches through problem-solving frameworks and exploring the neurological foundations of metacognitive processes.In addition to his academic work, Dr. Hulbig has extensive experience developing and implementing specialized programs for students with diverse learning needs, including the creation of self-developed metacognitive and self-regulatory programs such as Wholistic Problem Solving and The General Instruction Theory of Metacognitive Education.
