Shivek Narang

Biography

Shivek Narang, a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, is pursuing an accelerated master’s degree in Bioengineering, along with double majors in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, and minors in Healthcare Management, Data Science, and Chemistry. His research at the Centre for Neuro-engineering and Therapeutics primarily focuses on the impact of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) on epilepsy development. He specializes in functional connectivity mapping, image segmentation, deep learning, and medical imaging. Previously, Shivek contributed to innovative research at the Stanford Neuro Imaging Department, Stanford School of Medicine, using MR-guided focused ultrasound to deliver epilepsy treatments through the blood-brain barrier in rats, with his findings published in Experimental Neurology.
Beyond his academic endeavours, Shivek is the President of OurTeenBrains, a non-profit organization committed to enhancing understanding of adolescent brain development and mental health. He is also deeply involved with various medical and environmental organizations, focusing on the health impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations, especially concerning mental health and neurological disorders. Shivek actively hosts sessions across various platforms discussing mental health and the health implications of climate change, enhancing public awareness, and fostering informed communities.
