Biography
Dr. Shu-Mei Chen, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Taipei Medical University and Deputy Director of the TMU Biodesign Center. Her clinical and research interests focus on minimally invasive neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and neural repair using biomaterials and cell-based therapeutics. She has led multiple translational projects in neural regeneration, neurodegenerative disease and neurooncology, and her team pioneered MTAM-based encapsulated cell therapies for neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Chen is also a certified Stanford Biodesign Global Faculty Fellow and President (2023–2024) of the Taiwan Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
